“Jinī nām dhiāiā, gae masakat ghāl. Nānak te mukh ujle, keti chhuti nāl.”
Those who meditate on the Divine Name and live with honesty and service shine with peace. Their lives uplift not just themselves but countless others around them. This truth comes alive in an emotional yet powerful satsang story once shared by Guru Harbans Singh Ji.
It is the story of a wealthy Seth, his servant, and how the law of karma always finds its way back.
The Seth and the Servant
Once there lived a Seth who had no children of his own. Out of kindness, he decided to adopt a servant boy, thinking:
“I will share my property with him since I have no heir.”
This decision, though simple, brought miraculous blessings. The Seth’s wealth began to grow. His business flourished. His household was filled with abundance. Why? Because when you serve and uplift the poor, you are serving God Himself. And when you serve God, His blessings always follow.
When Maya Took Over
But as time passed, Maya — the illusion of wealth and possessions — clouded the Seth’s mind. He began to see the boy not as a blessing but as a threat to his riches.
Blinded by greed, the Seth made a devastating choice. With the help of a doctor, he poisoned the servant. The boy died. The Seth felt guilty, but also relieved, thinking:
“Now my wealth is safe. It belongs only to me.”
A Child is Born
Years later, God blessed the Seth with a son of his own. Overjoyed, he thought:
“Even after my wrong doing, God has been merciful to me. God is so great.”
The boy grew up, got married, and life seemed perfect. But soon after the marriage, tragedy struck — the son fell gravely ill. Day by day his condition worsened. No medicine worked.
Slowly, the Seth’s wealth began to vanish. Properties were sold, belongings were lost, until the family moved into a small rented apartment. And still, his son’s condition worsened.
The Revelation of Karma
On his deathbed, the son looked at the Seth with a faint smile. In that moment, the Seth recognized the face of the servant he had once poisoned.
The son whispered softly:
“Yes, Seth Ji. I am that servant. I returned as your son.”
The Seth broke down, begging forgiveness. “But what about your wife? Why leave her alone, what is her fault in all this?” he asked.
The son replied:
“She is not truly my wife. She too was a part of this play. She was the doctor who gave me the poison. We all came together only to settle our karmic accounts.”
With these words, the son left his body.
The Lesson: Karma Always Finds Its Way
This story reminds us of a timeless truth: whatever we sow, we must reap. No matter how much time passes, karma always finds its way.
When blinded by Maya, we chase wealth, status, and possessions, believing they will bring happiness. But true peace cannot be found in material gains. It comes only when we live in alignment with truth, compassion, and God’s will.
Reflection for Your Own Life
Take a moment to reflect:
• Are you chasing the next material achievement, believing it will finally fulfill you?
• Are you acting from fear and greed, or from love and truth?
• What seeds are you sowing today that may shape your tomorrow?
Even if you are the “servant” in this story — the one who is wronged — you still have a choice. At the moment of suffering, you can choose forgiveness instead of revenge. That is the path to liberation.
How Past Life Regression Helps
In my work with Past Life Regression, I often see how people suffer today from the very actions or patterns they created in the past. Healing begins when we uncover the root memory — the cause of the suffering — and bring awareness to it.
But even without regression, you can begin today. Reflect on your patterns. Notice when Maya is influencing your choices. Choose alignment with love and truth. That single step begins to loosen the grip of karma.
Walking Towards Liberation
Our ultimate aim is not to collect wealth or possessions, but to realize God within us. To merge our small self into Divine consciousness so that karma no longer binds us.
When we become instruments in the hands of God, our actions flow from truth, not from Maya. That is true freedom. That is liberation.
